I recently asked an artificial intelligence tool to edit a short story of mine and thought it did a decent job. Soon after that, I learned to ask A.I. to critique my story. It gave me several suggestions, which I thought were reasonable, and I followed almost every one of the suggestions. I did the same with three more stories of mine.
A.I. had sucked me into its vortex. I accepted everything it told me because it was so easy and tempting to have an “editor” edit and critique my stories in an instant. But then I realized A.I. was making me not me. It had taken over my writing voice. I was depending more on A.I. instead of my own common sense.
I now feel it’s necessary for me to rely on myself (my creativity and instincts) like I’ve done in the past, and not be sucked in by a machine known as A.I.
